Litter Automatic - A Way To Love Your Cat Even More!

I am a cat lover. I may sound a little eccentric, but to me they are as interesting as any person, but just covered in fuzzalicious fur! This Hubpage is all about helping each other find the best way to automate our litter box duties so we can enjoy our cats even more.

I've included a cute video below of a Siamese kitten being trained to fetch and I created a place for you to share your experience using automated litter boxes. We can all help each other out by sharing what we have learned.

When my husband showed up with two cats within two weeks time, I had mixed feelings. While I adore cats, I was thinking the litter box duties might get to be a bit much. I wanted a litter automatic solution that worked.

He said, let's toilet train Sassy. Sassy was the first cat that arrived in our home. I didn't think it would work, but we tried. We got a simple kit from the local pet store, read the instructions and set it up. The poor cat looked at me petrified every time I brought her to the "new" system. I just couldn't get her to use it. She held in her business for two whole days!

By that time I felt so bad, you'd think it was me who had not used the toilet in two days! (lol!) We decided enough was enough and Sassy ecstatically bolted to her old litter box as we put it out.

Ironically my husband kept telling me automated litter boxes do not work. I was puzzled and confused. “Why didn’t they work? After all we can send a man into space, but we cannot get a litter box to work?" It all seemed very suspicious to me.

He was right. When I went online to read LitterMaid reviews I found many users were having the litter box woes. The LitterMaid boxes that had the most problems were the Elite models. Those reviews were embarrassingly bad. The malfunctions left many users scrambling to find the right LitterMaid litter thinking that would prevent the boxes from clogging. It did not, however.

Have you ever used LitterMaid boxes? Let us know your experiences below.

As I continued my research, I discovered there were many people very happy with The Litter Robot. Faster than the speed of light we had one of those in our house. Within two months of use, it was a bad memory.

Not only did it break down, but it was almost as much work cleaning it out as scooping the litter box manually. Why? Because when it raked, it exposed the clumped and solid waste from the place the cat buried it, into the air. The smell was quite potent until I came to empty it.

I am still quite confused about the reliability of the Litter Robot, because reviews seem to give it high marks. If you have any experience with this system, by all means share it below. It just didn't work for me.

Today there are some really great products on the market. The best of them from what I have read is the ScoopFree Litter box when used with a permanent ScoopFree Tray. It features a revolutionary design concept using crystal silica litter instead of clumping clay.

Crystal litter, I am told, is light, does not clog the rake and minimizes litter tracking through the house. Because it absorbs the liquid, it controls odor better than clay does. Lastly, the waste tray can last up to one month before being changed! This is a big difference from LitterMaid boxes or Litter Robot.

If you have any experience with the ScoopFree approach to litter box automation, again please share below.

Choosing the best automated litter box system is important. It enables us to love our cats even more!
